Certifications & Quality

The work has to hold. We weld to recognized code, document the process, and back every joint with inspection and traceable material — so the people awarding the job can sign off with confidence.

Credentials

Qualified to the codes your project answers to

The credentials below are the ones GCs, engineers and plant owners ask for first. Confirmed qualifications are stated plainly; anything still pending verification is flagged so it can be documented before bid.

Welding to Structural Code

Structural steel welding performed to the applicable structural welding code (confirm: AWS D1.1?), with qualified procedures and welder qualification records available on request.

Code-Based

AISC Certification

Status: AISC Certified shop? confirm program (e.g. BU/SBD) & cert number. Where AISC certification is required for award, we will document current standing for your prequalification package.

Verify Before Bid

ISO 9001

Status: ISO 9001 registered? confirm & certificate number. Our quality practices follow a documented, repeatable system whether or not formal registration is in place.

Verify Before Bid

Safety & EMR

Experience Modification Rate: current EMR figure. Safety program details: OSHA 10/30, written safety plan, last incident date. Full safety record provided for prequal.

How We Work

Quality is built in, not inspected on

From the first cut to final load-out, every job runs through the same documented controls. That consistency is what lets you award work to us without holding your breath.

  • Welding procedures (WPS) Welds are made to a Welding Procedure Specification with supporting PQR. Welders work to qualified procedures and carry current qualification records for the processes and positions they run.
  • Material traceability Incoming steel is verified against mill test reports and tracked from receiving through fabrication, so the material in your structure can be traced back to its certs.
  • Inspection at the stages that matter Fit-up, in-process and final visual inspection on every assembly, with third-party NDT (UT, MT, PT) coordinated when a project or code calls for it.
  • Documentation you can hand to the AHJ Procedures, qualifications, material certs and inspection records are kept on file and packaged for the engineer of record, building official or owner when required.
Quality Control

The controls behind every joint

A straightforward, repeatable process from purchase order to delivery. No surprises, no shortcuts.

Plan & Procedure

Before fabrication starts we confirm drawings, specs and the applicable code, then set the welding procedures the job will run to.

  • Drawing & spec review
  • Applicable code confirmed (e.g. AWS D1.1)
  • WPS selected for the job

Verify & Track

Incoming material is checked against mill certs and tracked through the shop so every member stays traceable.

  • Mill test report verification
  • Heat-number tracking
  • Welder qualification check

Inspect & Document

Fit-up, in-process and final inspection are logged, with NDT coordinated when required and a documentation package delivered with the steel.

  • Visual inspection per code
  • Third-party NDT coordinated
  • QC package delivered
Standards We Build To

Codes, specs and what we keep on file

We fabricate to the recognized standards that govern structural and miscellaneous steel, and we keep the paperwork that proves it.

Codes & standards we work to

  • AWS D1.1 — Structural Welding Code, Steel confirmThe governing welding code for structural steel — confirm the codes Top Notch self-performs to.
  • AISC specifications & detailing practiceFabrication and detailing aligned to AISC for structural steel members and connections.
  • Project & engineer specificationsWe build to the contract documents and EOR requirements for each job.

Records we maintain

  • WPS / PQR & welder qualificationsProcedure and welder qualification records available for your prequal package.
  • Mill test reports & material certsTraceability documentation tied to the steel in your structure.
  • Inspection & NDT reportsIn-house visual records plus third-party NDT results when specified.

Insurance & bonding: general liability limits, workers' comp, bonding capacity if applicable. Certificates of insurance issued on request for awarded work.
